Trikala: Fire at Violanta Factory – Five Dead

Tragedy in Trikala, where five female workers lost their lives in a fire that broke out at the Violanta biscuit factory in the early hours of Monday (January 26). The fire was caused by a powerful explosion, which was heard from a distance of 8 kilometers.
According to testimonies, the temperature in the factory exceeded 1,000 degrees Celsius, causing part of the infrastructure to collapse. A team from DAAE is investigating the causes of the explosion, and experts have been appointed.
The Trikala Labor Center had conducted inspections at the factory in the summer of 2025, pointing out issues related to escape routes and the gas leak detection system.
Violanta issued a statement expressing its deep sorrow and stating that its priority is to support the families of the victims.
