Four mountain climbers, three men and one woman, have died in the Vardousia mountains. According to the president of the Athanasios Diakos community, K. Makrokostopoulos, the climbers were experienced and familiar with the area.

The climbers started on Christmas Day. They chose a path that proved fatal. Their bodies were found in close proximity to each other. The initial assessment is that their death was caused by asphyxiation, as an avalanche swept them away.

K. Makrokostopoulos emphasized that the climbers loved the area and visited it often.
