Thessaloniki: 'Graffiti Wall' Demolished Next to Kamara

The Municipality of Thessaloniki has demolished the 'graffiti wall' next to Kamara, in an effort to upgrade the area.

The small wall, located in the 'shadow' of the Arch of Galerius, was often covered with slogans and graffiti. According to the Deputy Mayor of Technical Works and Sustainable Mobility, Prodromos Nikiforidis, Kamara is a unique monument and should not be surrounded by vandalism.

With the consent of the Ephorate of Antiquities of the City of Thessaloniki, it was decided to create a green slope in place of the wall. The Deputy Mayor stated that the 'battle for graffiti' continues throughout the city.

As seen in a video from thestival.gr, the site was cordoned off during the works.
