Fatal Accident in Ikaria: Festivals Cancelled

Ikaria is in mourning after a fatal traffic accident claimed the life of a 19-year-old. The tragic event has led to the cancellation of all scheduled festivals on the island for at least two days.

The accident occurred in Agios Kirykos when the motorcycle driven by the 19-year-old veered off course and overturned. Local authorities, as a sign of respect for the deceased and his family, decided to cancel the events.

Among other events, the large festival of Agios Fanourios was cancelled, as well as the festival in Mavrato, which was scheduled for August 29. Police are investigating the causes and circumstances of the accident.

The police announcement states that the preliminary investigation into the traffic accident is being conducted by the Agios Kirykos Police Department of Ikaria.
