Over 100 passengers, including children and elderly individuals, were stranded on the Diakopto-Kalavryta railway on Sunday due to a mechanical failure.

According to reports, the train stopped abruptly, causing concern among the passengers. A second train sent to pick up the passengers also experienced a malfunction.

The EMAK (Emergency Response Unit) from Patras arrived at the scene and evacuated the passengers, who were then transported to Kalavryta by bus. The entire process lasted over four hours.

The Diakopto-Kalavryta railway is considered one of the most challenging technical projects in Greece, traversing the Vouraikos Gorge.
