Rhodes: 3-Year-Old Girl Fighting for Life After Pool Accident

A 3-year-old girl is in critical condition at the General Hospital of Rhodes after falling into a hotel pool in the Lardos area.
The child, of British origin, was found unconscious at the bottom of the pool, having ingested a large amount of water. A doctor, also of British origin, provided first aid.
The Deputy Director of the hospital, Michalis Sokorelos, stated that the girl is showing symptoms of water intoxication. Tests are being carried out to determine if she has suffered cerebral edema and if an air ambulance to Athens is required.
The girl's family, who were vacationing on the island, have not yet explained how the child fell into the pool. The incident comes after the recent death of a 6-year-old boy in a pool in Santorini.
