Rodopi: Investigation into 11-Year-Old's Death – Reports of Ambulance Issues

An internal administrative investigation (EDE) is underway at the EKAV (National Centre for Emergency Care) of Thrace regarding the death of an 11-year-old from drowning in Imeros, Rodopi. The investigation was launched following reports that the ambulance may have experienced problems during transport.
According to ERT, there are reports that the ambulance had to be pushed to start after picking up the 11-year-old unconscious. The driver, who is a military officer, and the ambulance crew will be questioned.
The tragedy occurred when the 11-year-old was swept away by currents with her inflatable in the Imeros area. After a two-hour operation, she was located by an Air Force helicopter and retrieved by a private boat. Paramedics tried to resuscitate her, but she unfortunately died at Sismanoglio Hospital of Komotini.
The parents of the 11-year-old were arrested for exposure, while an autopsy has been ordered.
