Digital Platform for Thessaloniki Streams

The Region of Central Macedonia is creating a digital platform for the recording and management of streams in Thessaloniki. Through an open tender, a stream registry will be developed, and a modern information system will be designed for the supervision and management of waterways.

The Deputy Regional Governor of Thessaloniki, Kostas Gioutikas, emphasized the need for a unified mapping and official recording of the current state of the streams. The initiative includes recording, mapping, and demarcation, utilizing satellite images and drones.

The data will be digitized for future cleanups and analyses. An algorithm will be developed to study material transport, applicable on a pilot basis in selected areas.
