Pefkochori, Halkidiki: Memorial Service for 19-year-old Giannis

Solemn memorial service held in Pefkochori, Halkidiki, for 19-year-old Giannis, who tragically lost his life in a luna park one year ago. The memorial service took place outside the now-sealed luna park, the site of the tragic accident.

On August 19, 2024, Giannis, a 19-year-old from Veria, was vacationing in Pefkochori with his family when he was fatally injured after the amusement ride he was on malfunctioned. The young man was ejected from his seat and died as a result.

Following the accident, changes were implemented regarding the licensing and inspection of luna parks, largely due to the efforts of Giannis' father, Giorgos Kampailis. Speaking to MEGA TV, Mr. Kampailis stated that the current inspections have saved other children and vowed to do everything possible to prevent similar accidents.
