Five homes have been deemed uninhabitable following the recent fire in Kryoneri, Attica, according to inspections by the General Directorate for Restoring the Effects of Natural Disasters (ΓΔΑΕΦΚ).

In total, 62 buildings were inspected in the areas of Kryoneri Attica, Messinia-Arcadia, Kantano-Selino Chania, and Kythira, after the fires in late July 2025. The inspections aimed to assess the suitability of the buildings and prevent risks to residents.

In Kryoneri Attica, out of 19 buildings, 8 were classified as green, 6 as yellow, and 5 as red. In Messinia-Arcadia, out of 23 buildings, 7 were green and 16 were yellow. In Kantano-Selino Crete, out of 6 buildings, 3 were green and 3 were yellow. In Kythira, out of 14 buildings, 5 were green and 9 were yellow.

The ΓΔΑΕΦΚ emphasizes the need for immediate repairs to ensure the safety of residents and the restoration of the affected areas. The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has already announced support measures and a timetable for submitting compensation files.
