Over 3,000 Helmet Violations in One Week in Greece

Over 3,000 violations for not wearing a helmet were recorded by the Hellenic Police during a campaign from August 11 to 17, 2025. As part of the "Zero Tolerance for Non-Use of Helmet" initiative, 27,873 traffic controls were carried out throughout the country.
The checks recorded 2,613 violations by motorcycle drivers (80 by delivery drivers) and 413 by passengers. Most violations occurred in Attica (842), Central Greece (382), and the South Aegean (264).
The aim of the campaign is to reduce serious traffic accidents related to not wearing a helmet. The new Road Traffic Code (Law 5209/2025) provides for a fine of 350 euros and revocation of the driving license for 30 days for motorcycle drivers who do not wear a helmet, as well as for passengers.
