New Migrant Arrivals in Crete: 100 Reach Gavdos

Migrant arrivals in Crete continue, with 100 people reaching Gavdos in the early hours. A boat arrived at Trypiti beach, and likely the same boat approached Korfos beach.
According to ERT Chania, among the migrants are 80 men, 11 women, and 9 children, all reportedly from Sudan. Five people who disembarked at Korfos are missing, and authorities are trying to locate them.
The 56 migrants located earlier have been transferred to the port of Gavdos, while the rest are expected to be transferred there in the coming hours. Due to congestion, they will not be transferred to the temporary accommodation center in Agia Chania, which already houses 1,139 migrants.
The Deputy Minister of Migration and Asylum, Sevi Voloudaki, stated that the gradual decongestion of the Agia Chania site will begin, with migrants being transferred to closed facilities on the mainland.
The OAK Workers' Union expressed concern about the accommodation conditions in the former Regional Market of Chania, where the migrants are housed, and called for the creation of a suitable accommodation space.
