Lifeguard Rescues 3-Year-Old Girl from Drowning in Katakolo, Greece

A lifeguard rescued a three-year-old girl from drowning in the Kavouri area of Katakolo on Thursday, July 25. The girl was pulled unconscious from the sea, about 30 meters from the shore.

The 24-year-old lifeguard, Giorgos Nikopoulos, a member of "Nafagososstiki Pyrgou – POSEIDON," rushed to help and managed to revive the child with CPR. The child's grandmother, who was accompanying her, was the first to notice the situation and called for help.

Giorgos Nikopoulos told iliaenimerosi that he was simply doing his job and that lifeguards are essential on crowded beaches. The girl was transported to Pyrgos hospital by ambulance.
