Messinia: Forest Fire in Polythea – Aerial Resources Deployed

The Fire Service is on alert for a forest fire that broke out in the Polythea area of Messinia. The firefighting operation involves 45 firefighters with a ground team from the 9th EMODE, 15 vehicles, one helicopter, and seven aircraft. Water trucks and construction machinery from local authorities are providing assistance.

Residents of the area received a message from 112, urging them to remain vigilant and follow the instructions of the authorities. The Peloponnese Region is on alert (category 5) due to an extreme risk of fire.

The General Secretariat for Civil Protection urges citizens and professionals to avoid actions that could cause a fire due to negligence.
