Messolonghi: Farmer Who Donated Ambulance Passes Away

Athena Papachristou, the farmer from Messolonghi who moved the entire country by donating an ambulance to the city's hospital, has passed away.
Ms. Papachristou, using her personal savings, purchased a state-of-the-art ambulance, worth 65,000 euros, and donated it to the EKAV (National Centre for Emergency Care) of Messolonghi. As she stated, the donation was made because she had personally experienced the lack of an available ambulance for transport to the hospital in Patras.
For her contribution, she was honored by the then-President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and received a phone call from Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Municipality of Messolonghi expressed its condolences for her loss.
