Lycabettus Hill Closed Due to High Fire Risk

Lycabettus Hill in Athens will be closed from midnight due to the very high risk of fire. The decision was made as an extreme fire risk (risk category 5) is predicted for Attica on Friday, August 8th.

All services of the Municipality of Athens have been placed on high alert. Standby teams of employees from the Cleaning and Green Services have been formed, and water tankers are also on standby. The Municipal Police, with patrols and the use of drones, are monitoring the hills and green spaces. The service's operations center will operate on a 24-hour basis.

Citizens are urged to be especially careful and to contact 1595 or 2105287800 in case of danger.
