Kythira: Mayor Harchalakis Faints During Fire Suppression Efforts

The mayor of Kythira and Antikythira, Eustratios Harchalakis, fainted on Saturday while coordinating efforts to extinguish a fire on the island.

In a social media post, Mr. Harchalakis stated that he felt dizzy and collapsed while at ESKEDIK, in the presence of the political leadership of the Ministry of Citizen Protection and the fire service.

Deputy Minister Kostas Katsafados caught him immediately, preventing serious injury. The mayor was transported to Evangelismos Hospital for examination and remains in the cardiology clinic.
