Herdsmen Stranded in Grammos Due to Heavy Rainfall

Five herdsmen are stranded in the village of Grammos, in the wider Macedonia region, due to heavy rainfall the previous day and the overflowing of the Aliakmonas River.
According to ERTnews, the herdsmen are in good health and have sufficient food and supplies for at least two days. An immediate rescue operation is not deemed necessary due to the adverse conditions and raging waters.
The stranded individuals are in communication with the Municipality and the local community, and have assurances of assistance if needed. Their return is expected in approximately two days, when the phenomenon subsides.
The mayor of Nestorio, Christos Gosliopoulos, stated to APE-MPE that "the water sweeps everything in its path" and that there is damage to facilities. He also mentioned that the village of Grammos does not have a rainwater drainage system, causing damage to the roads.
Municipal crews will visit Grammos to inspect the damage to the houses.
