Crete: Tensions During Cruise Ship Arrival in Agios Nikolaos
Share on:

Tensions arose in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, during the arrival of the cruise ship «Crown Iris», which was carrying approximately 1,500 passengers from Israel. The arrival coincided with a protest in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

According to e-kriti.gr, clashes occurred between protesters and police forces upon the cruise ship's arrival, with chemical agents used and arrests made. A strong police presence and Coast Guard force were present.

According to cretalive.gr, as buses departed for Knossos, some individuals threw objects at the vehicles. Police responded with chemical agents, creating a suffocating atmosphere.

A similar protest took place yesterday at the port of Rhodes regarding the presence of the same cruise ship.
