Crete: €1 Million Property Donated for School in Heraklion

A significant donation has been made in Heraklion, Crete, where a woman donated a property worth €1 million to the Municipality for the construction of a school. Notary Nelli Varveraki announced her intention to Mayor Alexis Kalokairinos.
The plot of land, covering 4,300 sq.m., is located in Amphithea. Deputy Mayor of Spatial Planning, Urban Planning and Municipal Property, Nikos Gialitakis, stated that the donation is particularly important due to the increased need for school plots in the area.
Ms. Varveraki stated that the decision was the result of mature thinking and a desire to contribute to the society of Heraklion, emphasizing her love for her place and her emphasis on solidarity.
The Municipality of Heraklion will examine the technical and urban planning parameters of the plot in order to make the best possible use of it for the construction of a school complex.
