Canadair Makes Emergency Water Landing in Corinthian Gulf Due to Malfunction

A Canadair CL-215 aircraft, belonging to the Hellenic Air Force, made an emergency water landing in the Corinthian Gulf, near Vrachati, Corinth, on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 10:40 AM, during a firefighting operation in Feneos, Corinth.
Both pilots are in good health. As one of the pilots stated to STAR television station, the water landing was due to a malfunction in the left engine during water collection. The aircraft could not take off with one engine, and the pilots remained in the water for about an hour and a half until they were towed to Kiato.
The Hellenic Air Force General Staff (GEA) issued a statement about the incident, confirming the water landing due to a malfunction and announcing the dispatch of a team from the Mobile Underwater and Marine Installation Maintenance Team (KOSYTHE) to investigate the incident.
The aircraft has been towed to Kiato and is being inspected by engineers.
