Corfu: Inspection and Immediate Restoration After Extreme Weather Events

The visit of the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection, Kostas Katsafados, to Corfu has been completed, following the intense weather phenomena. A series of inspections and a meeting with representatives of the Ionian Islands Region and the Municipal Authority of North Corfu took place.

The Deputy Minister noted extensive damage to homes and businesses, particularly in the areas of Sidari, Karousades, and Velonades. The Civil Protection mechanism continues efforts to remove obstacles and restore accessibility.

At the meeting, the need for immediate registration of damages and rapid submission of data of those affected was emphasized. Petros Kampouris and Giannis Pavlis stressed the importance of proper completion of files for activating state aid and disbursing compensation.

Mr. Katsafados stated that the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection remains operationally ready and in constant communication with local authorities. The Deputy Minister will then travel to Filippiada.
