Strong Earthquake of 5.7 Richter Scale off Lasithi

A strong earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale occurred early Friday morning off the coast of Lasithi, Crete. According to the Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter of the earthquake is located in the sea area 7 kilometers southwest of Goudouras, Lasithi.
The focal depth is estimated at 5 kilometers. The Deputy Regional Governor of Lasithi, Giannis Androulakis, stated to ERT that the earthquake had a long duration and was particularly felt throughout southwestern Crete, with reports from Sitia to Heraklion. Authorities are on alert to address any potential problems.
