Ilia: Fire in Melissa Lechaina Under Control

The fire that broke out on Friday afternoon, August 1st, in low vegetation in the Melissa Lechaina area of Ilia is now under control. According to the community president, the settlement is no longer threatened.
The fire was burning in a difficult-to-access area, away from settlements, and a message was sent from 112 to residents to be on alert.
87 firefighters with five teams of foot patrols and 23 vehicles participated in the extinguishing operation, while twelve aircraft and four helicopters operated from the air.
Alexandra Lykokanellou, president of the Melissa community, told ilialive.gr that the fire threatened stables, which were saved, while very few greenhouses and olive groves were burned. She also thanked the Lechaina Fire Service, the Civil Protection of P.E Ilia, Mr. Korovesis, and the mayor of Andravida Kyllini, Giannis Lentzas, for their help.
