Ferry Ban in Effect: Changes and Cancellations Announced

A general ferry ban is in effect, with the Piraeus Port Authority announcing changes and cancellations of routes due to strong winds. Passengers are experiencing disruptions as thousands remain stranded in ports, awaiting updates on whether they can travel.

The Central Port Authority of Piraeus has announced modified routes, with many being canceled. Since early morning, thousands of passengers have been at the port, often without timely updates from ferry companies or the Port Authority.

25 routes were scheduled to depart from the port of Piraeus, carrying over 26,000 passengers. Only routes from Gate E8 to the Saronic Gulf islands are operating normally. The situation is similar in Rafina.

Three ferry companies are preparing three local night routes from Rafina to Andros, with the ships Andros Queen, Fast Ferries Andros, and Super Ferry, to serve passengers who were scheduled to begin their vacations.

It is noted that this is not a complete ban in practice. Companies are examining each destination separately, and if local weather conditions permit, some ships are departing normally.
