A fire broke out at the «Agios Andreas» General Hospital of Patras on Saturday afternoon. The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, assured that no patients are at risk.

The fire started in the basement of the hospital, and the Fire Service intervened immediately with six vehicles and 25 firefighters. The forces managed to contain the fire before it spread.

Adonis Georgiadis stated in a post that patients are being moved from the building as a precaution due to the smoke. The causes of the fire are under investigation. According to the president of POEDIN, Michalis Giannakos, his colleagues reported that an explosion was heard before the fire.
