Fire in Keratea: Drosia and Charvalos Evacuated

A fire is currently burning in Keratea, Attica, with authorities ordering the evacuation of Drosia and Charvalos. The fire front is moving towards Anavyssos.

The fire started on Friday afternoon, burning low vegetation near Mitropisi Saka, between Keratea and Lavrio. 92 firefighters with 7 ground teams, 20 vehicles, volunteers, 3 aircraft, and 5 helicopters are operating in the area.

Traffic has been suspended on the Keratea-Anavyssos provincial road. 112 emergency messages were sent to residents of Drosia and Charvalos to evacuate towards Anavyssos.

The Deputy Mayor of Lavreotiki, Thanasis Makrodimitris, stated that the fire is uncontrolled and moving towards Anavyssos, while the Municipality of Saronikos has opened the Anavyssos Elderly Care Center to accommodate citizens.
