Fire in Kefalonia: Villages Evacuated Near Argostoli

A fire is currently burning in Kefalonia, near Argostoli. Authorities were alerted on Friday morning, leading to the evacuation of three villages.

A message from 112 was sent to residents of the villages of Karavados, Dorizata, and Keramies, urging them to evacuate towards Argostoli. The fire is burning close to houses.

28 firefighters with 2 teams of the 16th EMODE, 7 vehicles, volunteers, 4 aircraft, and 2 helicopters are operating in the area, with assistance from local authority water tankers. According to meteo, winds of up to 4 Beaufort are blowing in the area.

The mayor of Argostoli, Theofilos Michalatos, stated that arson is suspected, as three different outbreaks occurred.
