Fire in Achaia: Damage in Patras Industrial Area

A fire in Achaia caused extensive damage to the Patras Industrial Area (ΒΙΠΕ). The flames burned factories, shops, and warehouses.

According to Dimitris Leivadaros, president of the Association of Established Businesses, an abandoned factory and a fertilizer storage area were destroyed. Shops outside the industrial area were also damaged.

Reports indicate that a building belonging to the lumber company ABEX, a fertilizer factory, a furniture factory, and a warehouse next to the ΒΙΠΕ Fire Department were completely burned. DEH crews are working to restore power, as DEH poles were burned.

ETVA ΒΙΠΕ announced that the fire burned around the perimeter of the Patras Business Park, with losses limited to an abandoned building and a warehouse. The water supply was uninterrupted thanks to a power generation unit.
