Attica Fire: Devastating Images and Evacuations

A major fire has been raging in Attica since Friday afternoon (8/8/25), causing widespread damage and forcing evacuations. The fire started in low vegetation in Manoutsos Keratea and quickly spread, reaching Palaia Fokaia.

Firefighting forces, with 264 firefighters, 10 teams of foot patrols and 79 vehicles, are battling to contain it. Despite efforts, the fire continues to burn uncontrollably, with the main fronts located in Palaia Fokaia and the Thimari area.

One person has died, and many homes have been burned or damaged. Authorities have carried out the rescue of dozens of citizens. The destruction to the natural environment is incalculable, extending from Togani Keratea to the outskirts of Anavyssos.

Messages from 112 have been sent to evacuate areas. Firefighters are facing constant flare-ups in various areas such as Maliasteka, Dimolaki and Charvalo.
