Florina: Scuffle over Holy Cross during Epiphany Celebrations

Tensions and scuffles occurred in Florina during the blessing of the waters for the Epiphany celebrations, in the presence of the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias.

Videos show the faithful who dived into the Sakoulevas River pushing each other for the Holy Cross, each claiming it. After the Cross was thrown into the river by the Metropolitan of Florina, Prespes and Eordaia, Mr. Irineos, a dispute ensued over who caught it, with verbal altercations and shoving.

Eventually, all participants kissed the Cross.
