A striking waterspout was observed off the coast of Rafina on Saturday afternoon, creating a spectacle for onlookers.

The phenomenon occurred shortly after 3:30 PM, a short distance from the port entrance, according to irafina.gr.

The waterspout formed due to atmospheric instability, creating an impressive column of water that appeared to connect the sea with low-lying clouds.

Experts note that waterspouts are observed periodically in Greek seas, mainly during periods of intense weather changes. Although they are usually of short duration and intensity, caution is advised for passing vessels.
