Ithaca Schools Lack Philologist

Ithaca faces significant educational issues as the island's schools remain without a philologist one and a half months after the start of the school year. According to Dimitris Arkouzis, president of the parents' association of the Ithaca High School and General Lyceum, the High School, General Lyceum, and Vocational High School (EPAL) do not have a philology teacher.

Mr. Arkouzis stated on MEGA that "We are on the island of Odysseus, and the Odyssey is not being taught," highlighting the seriousness of the situation. The philologist's position remains vacant due to maternity leave, and Secondary Education has not proceeded with a replacement. As a result, approximately 100 students are deprived of philology lessons, forcing them to resort to tutoring to fill the gaps.
