Greece: Lifeguard Saves Three-Year-Old from Drowning in Katakolo

A lifeguard saved a three-year-old girl from drowning in the Katakolo area. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, July 25th, when the girl was pulled unconscious from the sea.
The intervention of 24-year-old lifeguard Giorgos Nikopoulos was crucial. He pulled the child out of the water and performed intensive resuscitation efforts.
Bathers noticed the child's body floating motionless approximately 30 meters from the shore. The child's grandmother, who was accompanying her, called for help. Giorgos Nikopoulos, a member of “Nafagososistiki Pyrgou – POSEIDON,” acted immediately.
After a few minutes, the girl regained consciousness. The lifeguard told iliaenimerosi that he was simply doing his job and following the instructions he had received.
The child was transported to Pyrgos hospital by ambulance.
