Two Bathers Found Dead in Kineta and Thasos

Two people died in separate drowning incidents in Kineta and Thasos over the weekend. An 80-year-old man was found unconscious in Kineta on Friday, while a 39-year-old Romanian man drowned in the Koinyra area of Thasos on Saturday.

In Kineta, port authorities were alerted to an 80-year-old swimmer in distress. Despite immediate mobilization and transfer to the General Hospital of Elefsina "Thriassio," he was pronounced dead. The First Port Department of Agioi Theodoroi is conducting a preliminary investigation.

In Thasos, a 39-year-old Romanian man was found unconscious in the "Paradise" sea area of Koinyra. First aid provided was insufficient, and he was transported to the Prinos Health Center, where his death was confirmed. An autopsy has been ordered by the Forensic Service of Sterea Thrace.
