Chalkida Municipality Requests State of Emergency Declaration

The Mayor of Chalkida has requested the General Secretariat for Civil Protection to declare a state of emergency for the Municipal Communities of Chalkida, Afrati, and Nea Artaki. The request was submitted on Monday, July 28, 2025, following the fires that affected these areas.

According to the request, the fire started in the neighboring Municipality of Dirfyon-Messapion on Saturday, July 26, 2025, and spread to the Municipal Communities of Chalkida, Afrati, and Nea Artaki, causing extensive damage. The damages include cultivated land, nurseries, industrial and livestock enterprises, as well as facilities of the Municipality of Chalkida, such as the Motorsports Track, the Municipal Animal Shelter, the Chalkida Landfill, the equipment of the Lilanta water supply axis, and the rural road network.
