Chonkus Maximus: Viral Cat Finds Home After Health Scare

Chonkus Maximus, a viral cat known for its presence on Google Maps, has found a new home after a period where increased public attention endangered its health.
The cat, which became popular on social media and a landmark on Google Maps, attracted many tourists to Chania, Crete. Visitors fed Chonkus Maximus low-quality food, leading to obesity and a decline in its health. The constant attention also caused the cat stress, and it began to hide.
The organization 'SAVE Animals Chania' and volunteer Lida Sifodaskalaki helped search for the cat, which was found dehydrated. Chonkus Maximus was taken to a veterinary clinic and is now in a safe environment.
Eventually, Chonkus Maximus was adopted by a family that will provide care and proper nutrition, ensuring a better life away from the public eye.
