Achaia: Battle against flames on multiple fronts

Firefighting forces are battling flames in Achaia, where multiple fires have broken out. The fire is burning on three different fronts: in Flogeraika, Platani and Demenika Achaia. In addition, shortly after 11 p.m. a fire broke out in Sychaina, north of Patras.

Dozens of settlements have been evacuated, and damage to homes and businesses has been recorded. The Kato Achaia health center has also been evacuated.

The Regional Governor of Western Greece, Nektarios Farmakis, told ERT that the situation is frightening and that the biggest problem is the strong winds that make firefighting difficult.

4,850 firefighters are operating on the fronts.
