Athens in August: 6 destinations for walking your dog

August is ideal for car trips with your dog in Attica. Dog trainer Michalis Diamantaras suggests six places to escape from everyday life:
1. Alsos Syggrou: A forest in the city, on the borders of Marousi and Kifissia, with paths and dense vegetation.
2. OAKA: A huge area in Marousi, ideal for walking, running and cycling. Prefer morning or evening hours due to the sun.
3. "Antonis Tritsis" Park: The largest park in Attica, on the borders of Ilion, Agioi Anargyroi and Kamatero, with lakes and rich birdlife.
4. Lofos Faskomilias: In Vouliagmeni, overlooking the Saronic Gulf. Bring water, as there are no taps.
5. Lipasmaton Multipurpose Area: In the Municipality of Keratsini-Drapetsona, overlooking the port of Piraeus and a dog park.
6. Kaisariani Shooting Range: Pine-covered area with a dog park and plenty of shade.
Mr. Diamantaras emphasizes the importance of being informed about possible park closures due to fires, as well as the obligation to have water and bags for your dog. He also reminds that the dog must always be on a leash.
