Athens: Thousands of Lanterns Light Up the 'Night of Wishes'

Magical scenes unfolded in Athens as thousands of lanterns illuminated the Attic sky for the 'Night of Wishes'. The event, held in Kotzia Square, offered a spectacular sight.

Approximately 3,000 biodegradable lanterns 'traveled' into the sky, filling the city with light and optimism, as stated by the Mayor of Athens, Charis Doukas. The event had initially been postponed on Christmas Eve due to weather conditions.

The rhythm of the celebration was set by the radio station Athens 9.84, with producer Nikos Lymberopoulos selecting festive melodies. Hosts of the evening were Nicole Dimitrakopoulou and Panagiotis Bougiouris.

Charis Doukas emphasized that Athens is its people and sends a message of unity, solidarity, and love.
