Athens: 153°C on Car Roof in Lenorman, 70°C in Omonia Due to Heatwave

A drone recorded a record temperature of 153°C on the roof of a car in the Lenorman area of Athens, while in Omonia Square the asphalt temperature reached 70°C, amidst the ongoing heatwave.
Up Stories recorded the high temperatures, highlighting the dangers for infants, young children, and pets who may be left inside parked cars.
The EMY (Hellenic National Meteorological Service) has upgraded the Emergency Weather Warning to an Emergency Bulletin of Dangerous Weather Phenomena. Temperatures are expected to remain high, with a slight decrease expected from Monday (July 28, 2025).
Minimum temperatures will remain high, especially in urban centers, while from Friday (July 25, 2025) and Saturday (July 26, 2025), strong northerly winds of 6 to 7 Beaufort will prevail in the Aegean Sea.
