Defibrillators to be installed in Athens Metro and Taxis

Defibrillators will be installed in all Athens metro stations as part of a program by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. Taxis will also have the option to be equipped with defibrillators on a voluntary basis.
Public transport staff and participating taxi drivers will receive training in first aid and the use of the devices. The defibrillators will be connected to a central emergency assistance system that will provide remote guidance.
The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Konstantinos Kyranakis, stated that a network for prevention and immediate intervention to deal with cardiac arrest is being created. The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, mentioned that taxis, with the appropriate equipment and training, can save lives.
The installation of defibrillators in the metro begins immediately, and the first taxis with the necessary equipment will soon be on the roads.
