Ferry Ban Due to Gale-Force Winds – Canceled Routes

Gale-force winds up to 9 Beaufort have caused a ferry ban from the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, and Lavrio, leading to canceled routes and passenger inconvenience.
According to the Coast Guard, routes to the Saronic Gulf are operating normally, while departures to the Cyclades from Rafina and to Kythnos from Lavrio are not taking place. Queues formed at the port of Piraeus due to passengers not being informed in time.
Meteorologists predict that strong winds will persist until Sunday, affecting maritime transport and increasing the risk of fire. The General Secretariat for Civil Protection has issued a warning for extreme fire risk in Attica, Central Greece, and the Peloponnese.
Problems were also reported on other ferry routes, with ships unable to reach ports such as Herakleia and Serifos.
Lycabettus Hill in Athens remains closed, and the municipality has put its services on alert due to the increased risk of fire.
