Alexandroupoli: Lifeguards Rescue 2-Year-Old Girl from the Sea

A two-year-old girl was rescued by two lifeguards at «Delfini» beach in Alexandroupoli after they found her floating unconscious in the water. The lifeguards managed to revive her with CPR.
22-year-old lifeguard Athanasia Nouni, speaking to APE-MPE, said that the incident happened on the day of the Dormition of the Theotokos (August 15th). Her colleague, 23-year-old Elena Kapelou, spotted the child floating face down in the water.
"I ran straight into the water, took her in my arms and saw that it was a very small girl floating without her senses. On the beach we saw that she was not breathing so we started CPR with two fingers. After two rounds, the little girl recovered and was picked up by EKAV (ambulance service) at around 16.00," said Ms. Nouni.
The child's grandmother and mother, who were looking for her, arrived at the beach. The child was taken to the hospital and is in good health.
