Spiros Protopsaltis: Plan for agricultural development

The General Secretary of Agricultural Development and Food, Spiros Protopsaltis, presents his plan for agricultural development, focusing on rehabilitation, rationalization and development with transparency.
Mr. Protopsaltis stresses the need to restore confidence in the system of aid and controls, starting a new page in OPEKEPE. He emphasizes addressing irregularities in organic product certifications and enhancing transparency.
The plan includes four main axes: attracting young people to agricultural production, improving the quality and added value of Greek products, sustainability and resilience to the climate crisis, and ensuring food security.
Special mention is made of fisheries, with the aim of modernizing the fishing fleet and sustainably managing marine resources. The creation of new marine parks in the Ionian and South Aegean is also highlighted.
Mr. Protopsaltis underlines the need for a new state-producer relationship, with the aim of strengthening the farmer in practice and highlighting the primary sector as a driving force for development.
