Supermarkets: DIMEΑ Checks and Offers in Focus

Supermarket chains in Greece are under pressure due to DIMEΑ checks and rising raw material prices. The inflation increase of 3.1% in July has caused concern at the Ministry of Development.

In response, supermarket chains are increasing offers and promoting private label products. Supermarket sales increased by 5.3% in the penultimate week of July, with private label products showing a 6% increase. At the same time, DIMEΑ has requested data on the gross profit margin of thousands of product codes.

The Ministry of Development is closely monitoring inflation trends, especially ahead of September, a crucial month for households.
