Zero ATM Fees Regulation Approved in Greece

The regulation for zero ATM fees was approved in the Greek Parliament as part of the Ministry of National Economy's bill on the Customs Code. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, stated that this is a significant change that citizens have been waiting for.
The amendment on ATM fees was supported by ND and PASOK, while KKE, New Left, and Niki abstained. SYRIZA and Hellenic Solution voted against it.
Key points of the regulation:
- Zero fees are guaranteed for bank customers.
- Fees imposed between banks are eliminated, especially when they participate in the DIAS digital banking system.
- A national ceiling of 1.5 euros is established for third-party provider fees.
Mr. Pierrakakis emphasized that the government disagrees with excessive charges to consumers and that these practices should be terminated.
The bill also includes provisions for combating tax evasion, integrating SDOE into AADE, and incentives for the repatriation of Greeks from abroad.
