Greek tourism is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East, with initial market reactions proving contradictory. An initial surge in bookings has been followed by a noticeable 'freeze,' creating an atmosphere of uncertainty.

The president of the Hellenic Hoteliers Federation (POX), Giannis Chatzis, speaking in Kavala, stated that the consequences of the crisis cannot yet be assessed. He explained that in the first days of the war, there was an increase in bookings, but this was followed by a 'freeze.' At the same time, energy and oil prices are increasing uncertainty.

In his speech, Mr. Chatzis stressed the need to safeguard the competitiveness of hotels. The President of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, Alexandros Vasilikos, emphasized that it is too early to assess the impact, but tourism has shown resilience. The vice president of POX, Konstantinos Marinakos, noted that the duration of the crisis will determine the impact on bookings and energy costs.
