Kozani: Culling of Livestock Due to Sheep Pox Outbreak

An alert has been raised in Kozani following the confirmation of a sheep pox outbreak in a livestock unit. Authorities proceeded with the culling of 220 animals and are implementing strict measures to contain the disease.
Samples sent to a laboratory in Athens confirmed the presence of sheep pox in sheep from a livestock unit outside Kozani. At this unit, 220 animals will be culled, and the facility has been placed under quarantine.
Additionally, livestock units within a 20-kilometer radius of the outbreak's epicenter have also been placed under quarantine. Quarantine zones have been implemented within radii of 5 and 20 kilometers, with a ban on animal movement.
