Bureaucracy Delays Seaplane Flights in Greece

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is promoting a new bill that further complicates the licensing of waterways, delaying the start of seaplane flights in Greece.
Tourism bodies and the Ioannina Prefecture Hotel Association express their support for seaplanes, while Hellenic Seaplanes plans regular connections between Ioannina, Corfu and Paxos. However, the start of flights has been delayed due to bureaucratic obstacles.
The European Seaplane Association (ESA) is closely monitoring developments and considers the development of seaplanes in Greece important for regional connectivity and the promotion of sustainable tourism.
Ioannina stakeholders believe that the city can become an international destination for seaplanes, due to Lake Pamvotis.
